Welcome to the Mary Wright Unit.
Some background to those who do not know us well.
We are currently a Twenty bedded GP referral unit in sunny Basildon Hospital, Essex. We take all acute adult referals to the specialities of Medicine, Surgery and Orthopaedics. We amaze ourselves at our ability to cram upwards of forty patients on the unit at any one time.
Despite the stress we are a happy crew (BY ORDER of HM Lee) and have a reputation for our social life. From ward meetings at the local hostelery to candle parties (it seems girls only ?why) and monthly committee meetings where the gentlemen discuss politics, anatomy and furniture over a glass of port and a cigar.
It is a truly blissful place to work, but alas we have no vacancies for nursing or support staff (is this unique in the NHS?), but if you are a SHO and want to work 10-6 only five days per week then call personel at Basildon Hospital (01268 533911).
